Trip to Bali

We had a chance to get away for the weekend so we headed for Bali, unfortunately we were a little disappointed as the area we stayed in (Sanur) wasn't so great. The beaches were filthy, not only with oil but littered with junk, plastic etc. Some tourists were walking barefoot through the mess, Paul and I couldn't believe it.

We stayed in a hotel called The Mecure Sanur Resort, it was a 4 star going on 1 star, we moved rooms twice in 3 days as they seemed to have a plumbing crisis. The first room only had steamy hot water and no cold, and the second room had sewerage bubbling through the tiles around the loo. So scratch that hotel off the list if you had any ideas of staying there.

We went to the town of Kuta, to have dinner and ended up at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company (As in the movie Forrest Gump) Great food, the "Run Forrest Run" sign means you don't need the waiter and then if you flip it over it says, "Stop Forrest Stop" and the waiter will come. The restaurants atmosphere was lively and fun

It was a busy day at the beach in Kuta, everyone had come to see the sunset on a Saturday night, and we had no idea why??? heaps and heaps of people everywhere. Reminded us of Durban beach on New Year's Day. Anyway we may go back to Bali one day and try another side of the Island, its truly sad how tourism is the life blood of this island and yet there seems to be a great lack of interest.

Hi there as you know we got married on the 26th April 2007 and Trou Aux Biches Hotel in Mauritius. It was certainly a party of note and it was so great that so many of our friends and family were there to share this memorable romantic occasion!!!
